Staff

Below is a description of the various staff positions available at Camp on the Move. Please email info@camponthemove.com to get more information. A resume is required for all paid positions.

 

Associate Directors

  • Responsibilities
    • Manage Bus (All responsibilities pertinent to their specific bus)
    • Responsible for all campers on their specific bus.
    • Camper group assignments
    • Manage the Counselors, Jr. Counselors and CIT's for their bus
    • Responsible for daily activity management and assignments of duties.
    • Daily reporting to corporate.
    • Greet & login campers and parents at the door.
  • Requirements
    • Hours: 7:00 am to 5:30 pm (or last camper)
    • Must pass the state required sexual abuse awareness training course.
    • Must provide a character reference letter to keep on file
    • Must have a copy of your current drivers license on file
    • Paid Position

Counselors (must be able to work all camp weeks)

  • Responsibilities
    • Assigned group of children
    • Daily attendance and activity log.
    • Daily group report to the AD
    • Full day group supervision
    • Camper checklist log, e.g. lunch, sunscreen, etc.
    • On bus supervision
  • Requirements:
    • Must be at least 18 and have a valid drivers license
    • Available to work from any of our locations
    • Hours: 7:30 am to 5:30 pm (be early never late)
    • Must pass the state required sexual abuse awareness training course.
    • Must provide a character reference letter to keep on file
    • Camp purchases your passes
    • Paid Position

Jr. Counselor (3 week minimum...sign up as a CIT)

  • Responsibilities
    • Assigned a small group of children
    • Daily attendance and activity log.
    • Daily group report to the AD
    • Full day group supervision
    • Camper checklist log, e.g. lunch, sunscreen, etc.
    • On bus supervision
  • Requirements
    • Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (be early never late)
    • Junior Counselors should register for camp as a CIT. If they are offered a position at the end of their first camp work week, then they will be compensated $125.00 for the week. They will still be required to purchase a Schlitterbahn park pass.
    • Must be a Junior or Senior in High School.
    • Limited weekly positions available based on your performance as a CIT.

CIT - Counselor in Training (3 week minimum, discount of $15 per week payable by COTM at the end of their 3rd week)

  • Responsibilities
    • Assisting counselors and jr. counselors with on bus camper management
    • Assisting a counselor or jr. counselor on theme park days, e.g. Fiesta Texas, Sea World, etc.
    • Keep a daily log of their support activities
    • A weekly synopsis of their camp counselor experience
  • Requirements
    • Must be going into 9th or 10th grade
    • Hours: Camp hours
    • Not a paid position but COTM can offer community service hours if needed.

Adult Water Front Director

(ONLY Frio/Open water Days) AWFD is in charge of all water front activities and monitors the campers while in open water and assists the certified lifeguard in keeping an eye on all campers. They must be within sight or hearing distance of all campers at all times. Maybe in a canoe for the Frio trip.

Certified Lifeguard

COTM will have a certified lifeguard on staff when participating in natural open water activities such as floating the Frio River. They must have all their certified gear and be up to date with their certification.

Daily Employee Log

  1. Documentation of roll checks at each stop
  2. Documentation of sunscreen application
  3. Document each camper's lunch in your group. What did they eat? What time did they eat? Any snacks?
  4. Document how much money each camper has at the beginning of each day. Try to keep track of what they are spending their money on.
  5. Document behavioral or emotional issues - good or bad.

Employee Guidelines

  1. No smoking at anytime during camp hours.
  2. No personal calls during camp hours.
  3. Be timely.
  4. No sleeping on the bus or in movies.
  5. Always be accessible to camper’s interests and needs.
  6. Never leave camper's unattended. Tell director if you need a break.
  7. Never allow a child to be alone. Campers must go EVERYWHERE in pairs.
  8. Interact with children at all times.
  9. Counselors must eat lunch with campers and not other counselors each day.
  10. Make an effort to get to know all campers - all buses included.
  11. Do not arrive at camp under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.  Any staff member found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be terminated immediately.

Employee No Show

No show is automatic grounds for dismissal.  Employees should show up at camp and discuss sickness with Director.  You may only call in sick if your sickness is so severe you can not get out of bed.

Termination

COTM reserves the right to terminate any employee for any reason.  Examples are…

  1. Tell campers inappropriate stories
  2. Letting campers buy inappropriate items
  3. Stealing from campers or venues
  4. Using inappropriate language
  5. Any physical contact with a child that is inappropriate or negative
    Only Directors handle behavior issues on and off the bus.
  6. No Show
  7. Arriving to camp under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Attire

Employees must wear official COTM t-shirts at all times, unless in a swimsuit. All swim wear must be appropriate.

Pay Scale

Directors and Counselors are paid a weekly rate.             

State Required Course

All employees (18 and up) must complete and pass the Sexual Abuse and Child Molestation Awareness Training Program, provided by COTM. You must take this training before being allowed to work at COTM. This training is to be completed every 2 years.

Employees are to sign the COTM code of conduct.

Background Checks (Only paid positions)

Employee background checks will be run every year along with sexual predator background checks and kept on file with the corporate office.
